As we can see, the region colored in pink is a region surrounded by the 4 functions mentioned above. To determine the integral



over the area of the pink region, it is necessary to employ integral calculus. However, unlike the regions we would normally integrate in terms of x and y coordinates, the boundaries in terms of x and y are not easy to be used for an integration with respect to x and y variables. The beauty of multivariable calculus is that we can employ a technique called change of coordinate system to make the integration of the area of this region much more feasible.
