Solution: We can find fluorine on the Periodic Table on the Reference Table. Each element is listed with an atomic number which is shown in bold below the element. Atomic number is equal to the number of protons. Nucleus consists of protons and neutrons. Protons have a +1 charge and neutrons have no charge. The charge of the nucleus is equal to the number of protons which is equal to the atomic number. The charge on the nucleus of a fluorine atom is +9 (choice 3).
