Solution: Ionic compounds, when dissolved in water, dissociate to produce ions (charged) and can conduct electricity. NaCl is an ionic compound because it is composed of a metal and a nonmetal. The higher the concentration of the ionic solution, the more it will be able to conduct electricity.
